Ingredients

    For the Croques-Monsieur:

  • 8 slices of toast (see recipe: Plain Toast bread with KOMEKO TOASTGENUSS)
  • 4 slices of cooked ham
  • 60 g grated Emmental cheese
  • For the Béchamel sauce:

  • 20 g butter 20 g butter
  • 20 g KOMEKO KUCHENGLÜCK
  • 200 ml milk
  • 20 g Emmental cheese, grated
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Nutmeg

Preparation

  1. Prepare toast slices
    Toast the slices of toast until very light.
  2. Prepare béchamel sauce
    Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the KOMEKO KUCHENGLÜCK, mix, and toast briefly. Then gradually add the milk while stirring until a creamy sauce forms. Simmer over low heat for 5 minutes. Add the grated cheese and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  3. Preheat grill
    Preheat the oven grill.
  4. Layer Croques-Monsieur
    Place 4 slices of toast on a baking sheet. Spread 1/3 of the béchamel sauce on each slice. Top each with a slice of cooked ham. Spread another 1/3 of the béchamel sauce over the top. Place another slice of toast on top. Spread the remaining béchamel sauce and sprinkle with grated Emmental cheese.
  5. Grill and serve
    Grill the croque-monsieur for a few minutes until the cheese and sauce melt and brown slightly. Serve immediately or while still warm, ideally with a small salad.
